Hello everyone!! I hope whoever had their state champs yesterday or recently did AMAZING and congratulations on whatever place you took! It’s important to remind yourself that you put your heart and soul into whatever performance you had and made it special. Todays prompt is - who did you sign this petition for? Who is the first person (or group) that comes to mind? Mine is for every senior who knew coming into this season they would have to give up guard afterwards. I found out I would be retiring the performing late, but I thought it was unfair that some people knew and had to decide to go for worlds or just end their career. I’ve spoken to a few of these seniors and the response was heartbreaking “this will be my last, I can’t afford worlds,” “I don’t have the look for worlds,” “I don’t have the skill and won’t be able to get to that level before next season” are just a few of the responses I received. I signed and started this petition because to see winds groups performing for years is amazing and the bond you have with your team is truly something else, but why should they be the only ones to continue past 23? I signed because you should always have options to perform with a group. I signed to be the voice for those who are unsure what to do now. I would be honored to be the voice for everyone in guard this season aging out, you all are incredible and, no matter your circumstances, deserve to march next year if you so please.
