Hi everyone,

We’re at the point where awareness matters more than anything. A lot of people in Albany still don’t realise Nanarup is being considered for the desal plant, or what that would mean for the Sound and the coastline. If the wider community isn’t told, they simply won’t know and we can’t rely on others to do it for us.
 
So if you’re talking with friends, neighbours or workmates, this is the time to raise it. Keep it simple and factual:

• Nanarup lies on the eastern edge of King George Sound, an area previously identified as unsuitable for desal infrastructure because of its ecological sensitivity and the importance of protecting the health of the Sound.
• The detailed studies and site-specific modelling still aren’t completed or released, yet the process is moving ahead.
• The December Motion set “Do No Harm” and a transparent, fair process as key requirements.
• Sandpatch is still the most suitable location for this plant. It’s not the most convenient, but environmentally it’s the right choice with high-energy dispersal conditions and existing industrial infrastructure already in place.

We all want the right location chosen and Nanarup isn’t it.

The more people who understand what’s happening, the more informed voices there are calling for a proper, open process and a safe site selection.
