The Issue

I am seeking a new place to live, and I'm perplexed by the misconceptions surrounding Siberian Huskies. Time and again, landlords and housing authorities dismiss this breed as being aggressive, labeling them as dangerous and unfit for community living.

In my years working in pest control, I have encountered countless dogs. From my experience, you’re more likely to be nipped at by a smaller dog rather than a Siberian Husky. Huskies are affectionate, loyal, and known for their friendly nature. Yet, they're unfairly grouped into "dangerous breed" lists that restrict responsible pet owners from freely accessing housing opportunities.

A study conducted by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) underscores that breed is not a reliable predictor of aggressive behavior. Instead, factors such as training, environment, and individual history play a more significant role in a dog's behavior. Despite these findings, misconceptions persist, perpetuated by misleading stereotypes rather than empirical evidence.

Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not advocate for specific dog breed bans, emphasizing the importance of understanding dog behavior beyond superficial classifications. It's crucial to evaluate each animal based on its behavior and treatment rather than its breed alone.

Calling on housing authorities, insurance companies, and lawmakers to revise their outdated policies and remove Siberian Huskies from all dangerous breed lists. It's time to foster a broader understanding and appreciation of these majestic canines, reflecting a true, factual perspective rather than outdated myths.

Sign this petition to help end breed discrimination and allow responsible Husky owners to live without unwarranted barriers. Together, we can pave the way for fair and informed policies about our beloved canine companions.
