Our purpose with this petition is to address a deeply personal and urgent issue that touches on our livelihoods and the functioning of the South African Red Cross Society (SARCS) in Gauteng. As volunteers and employees committed to the mission of SARCS, we are calling for the immediate removal of Tseko Macholo from his role as the Gauteng Provincial Manager due to his inadequate qualifications, lack of experience, and harmful decisions that threaten the welfare of our organization and its employees.

Tseko Macholo's appointment as the Gauteng Provincial Manager raised immediate concerns regarding his suitability for the role. His qualifications and experience do not support the responsibilities required of someone in this important position. Despite being in office for over a year now, our initial concerns have unfortunately been validated. A primary justification for his appointment was a commitment to raise funds which remain unfulfilled. Instead, Macholo has made decisions that have grave implications for our branches and staff.

Under Macholo's leadership, two branches have faced closure, a decision that has resulted in over 30 employees being left without jobs and support. This is devastating not only for the affected families but also for the communities we serve. Moreover, the enduring lack of funds has left many branches struggling to survive, leading to significant delays in salary payments. Some dedicated employees have not received their salaries for more than six months, despite tirelessly supporting the mission of SARCS. This creates an unsustainable working environment and jeopardizes the essential services we provide.

We, the undersigned, are directly impacted by Macholo’s poor leadership and decision-making. The effects of his tenure resonate through our organization, affecting morale, service delivery, and public trust. We firmly believe that SARCS needs a leader who truly understands the unique challenges we face and who possesses the experience, competence, and dedication to lead our organization forward.

This petition is not just about replacing an individual but about restoring faith in our institution and ensuring that SARCS in Gauteng can fulfill its vital humanitarian mission. We urge the Secretary General and the board of directors to take decisive action by removing Tseko Macholo from his position and appointing a qualified and experienced leader who can bring about positive change and stability.
