Petition updateRemove Family Child Care Licensing Modernization from SF 46122,000 signatures in only 48 hours!
Minnesota Association of Child Care ProfessionalsMN, United States
16 May 2026

Thank you for helping us reach 2,000 signatures in only 48 hours!

That alone should tell lawmakers something is very wrong.

We have now:

  • Shared our concerns, analyses, and proposed edits directly with the conference committee members and legislative leaders in both the House and Senate
  • Spent countless hours in meetings with DCYF and legislators
  • Spoken up repeatedly at meetings and hearings
  • Empowered providers and families to read the drafts and bills for themselves, review our detailed analyses and summaries, and contact legislators directly

We are including links to this language so providers, families, legislators, and the public can review the language for themselves, as we’ve always done.

While we were able to secure some positive changes through this legislative process, most of the original bill language has not changed.

And we are STILL fighting because this bill remains deeply problematic.

This proposal still contains:

  • vague and subjective standards that invite inconsistent enforcement
  • increased paperwork and training burdens
  • operational restrictions inside providers’ homes
  • increased liability and costs
  • regulations that go far beyond measurable health and safety protections
  • requirements that do not reflect how family child care actually works

Minnesota has already lost more than HALF of its family child care providers over the last 15 years. These changes will accelerate closures even more, especially in rural communities where family child care is often the ONLY option families have.

There is NO guarantee these issues would ever be fixed later. Once harmful language becomes law, fixing it becomes exponentially harder.

That is why we are fighting NOW and have been for years.

MACCP has worked tirelessly for more than 10 years to INFORM, EDUCATE, EMPOWER, and ADVOCATE for providers and families across Minnesota. We are proud of that work, and we are incredibly grateful to every provider and person working and standing alongside us.

Please:
 * SHARE the petition
 * READ the bill for yourself
  * Contact legislators NOW (find their contact info at www.maccp.org/draft)

The future of family child care in Minnesota depends on what happens right now.
