Update from the Civic Engagement Team

Hello Petition Supporters,

My name is Alexandra, and I'm on the Civic Engagement team at Change.org. Our team works to connect petition starters and supporters with the public officials who have the power to act on the issues you care about. 

I received a call from John Sweeney, Winnebago County Board Member, regarding this petition.

He shared that the deputy referenced in the petition has already resigned from the Sheriff’s Department, meaning the individual is no longer employed by the county. He called to make sure this information had been communicated, since the petition is requesting the deputy’s removal.

This is an important update, as it suggests the primary action requested in the petition has already been addressed.

I will continue to monitor for any additional developments or official confirmation from the Sheriff’s Office.
