During a Dail debate on gender based violence brought forward by Ruth Coppinger TD, Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan announced that a memorandum will go to Government seeking an amendment to the Guardianship of Infants Act to implement “Valerie’s Law”, which would remove guardianship rights from people who killed their spouse.

Other significant updates this year include: 

• Sinn Fein MEP Kathleen Funchion called for Valerie's Law when speaking in the European Parliament on February 10th
• Parliamentary questions on January 22nd from Holly Cairns Social Democrats TD who is also drafting a bill
• Inclusion of Valerie's Law in the Programme for Government 2025
• Announcement of a book on the crime and aftermath to be published in May titled "For Valerie".
• Discussion of Valerie's Law on RTE's "Upfront with Katie Hannon".
