Following POSHAN month in September 2019, we know that PM Modi and the WCD are paying attention to malnutrition, hunger and the need to achieve UN's sustainable development goals (SDG's) with a targeted approach.
All India Radio reported on the initiative of Bharatiya Poshan Krishi Kosh held recently and highlighted the strategies being employed under the program- "Ministry of Women and Child Development has collaborated with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for this project. The Bharatiya Poshan Krishi Kosh seeks to promote healthy dietary practices and tackle under-nutrition in a sustainable manner. The initiative will be built on an essential understanding of social, behavioural and cultural practices that promote and reinforce healthy dietary behaviours both at the individual and community level."

I believe that sustainably tackling hunger and inviting community participation is an opportunity for retailers and the retailers association to contribute to this initiative.
Will we see Reliance Fresh support this initiative by working on a 'Zero Food Waste' Policy and implement it across their stores?
We cannot remain ignorant or deny the connection that exists between food waste, hunger and malnutrition anymore.
Have you asked your local grocery store about how they tackle food waste? Ask them and leave a comment on this thread.
Let's find out how retailers across the nation are handling unsold foods.
