Justice for Sanjiv Bhatt
Sep 24, 2019

It is now 1 year and 21 as on days 25th September since Sanjiv Bhatt was maliciously taken away. After very many delays, recusals by judges and unending delaying tactics by the prosecution, our matter challenging the sessions court order for life imprisonment was finally re-listed after 95 days in the Gujarat High Court today. However, in yet another blatant delaying tactic, the Public Prosecutor Mr. Mitesh Amin did not show up in court. The matter is now adjourned to the 25th of September 2019.

It saddens me to see how two nearly 30 year old cases, both of which were duly investigated and stayed by the Supreme Court of India were nefariously re-opened by misleading the court with only one malicious intent – to subdue and silence the voice and spirit of Sanjiv Bhatt.

While we keep running from pillar to post to challenge the wrongful conviction of Sanjiv in a 30 year old fabricated case, the state yesterday expeditiously and maliciously framed unsubstantiated charges on Sanjiv in a 23 year old case. I was baffled to see how the court was being misled with an entirely fabricated narrative; a narrative, which keeps on changing from time to time to suite the prosecutions convenience.

Judiciary, which is supposed to be one of the strongest pillars in any democracy seems to be crumbling before our very own eyes; yet I am supposed to keep faith, have patience, be tolerant of their unending iniquitous tactic to harass and break Sanjiv and maintain decency in the face of this blatant display of vindictiveness.

While we wait with bated breath for our matters to be heard fairly, the prosecution is leaving no stone unturned to nefariously mislead and precipitate yet another miscarriage of justice.

It is now 386 days since Sanjiv Bhatt was taken away from his family. While Sanjiv keeps fighting and paying the heavy price of being an honest and upright officer, you, the people of India still continue to watch as silent spectator.
