Exactly one year ago, we started this Petition for the release of Armenian POWs and civilian hostages held illegally in Azerbaijan, addressed to decision makers in the United Nations, European Union and several international human rights organisations.

Many thanks for signing this Petition, and for sharing it! With your support it  has become one of the most successful petitions on change.org, and is still going strong! Usually, after few weeks or months, petitions lose the momentum, and are forgotten. Meanwhile, we had 1000 new supporters only in the last week! Thanks to every single one of you!

Your ongoing support means that the crisis of Armenian POWs and hostages remains high on the agenda. But the crisis is far from being solved. Please, be assured that our small group of volunteers, with no political or personal agenda, and no financial support from any organisation, works tirelessly to highlight the Armenian hostage crisis.

14 months since the Ceasfire Agreement of 10 November 2020, Azerbaijan is still holding illegally Armenian POWs and hostages:

1- Over 40 Armenian hostages have been tortured to death in Azerbaijan;

2- Azerbaijan refuses to release the exact number of Armenian hostages to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). However, comparing all official sources, we reckon that there are at least 200 hostages held in Azerbaijani prisons;

3- Around 60 POWs and civilians have been sentenced to many years of imprisonment, several to 15 and 20 years imprisonment, without adequate legal representation, wihtout possibility to consult a lawyer of their choice or their families;

4- International monitors and lawyers are not allowed to visit the Armenian hostages to assess their health and well being, and the International Red Cross has limited access to them, which is against all international agreements;

5- Dozens of new hostages have been taken since May 2021, and 2 new Armenian hostages are currently being tried in Baku without proper legal assistance.
