A while back I started this petition asking for Alan Rickman’s archival theatre performances to be released for public viewing.

While I was working on that, I kept thinking about how many people have something they wish they’d said to him and nowhere to put it. Not everyone wants to be on camera or record their voice. So I made a website, where people can share their thoughts anonymously.

I read and approve every letter myself before it goes up. Nothing gets published automatically.

If you’re stuck on what to write, there are a few prompts on the submission page, things like “The first time I saw you was...” or “I wish I could have told you...”, but you don’t need to use them.

Once a letter’s approved it goes into the archive. You can search it or browse by category (Dear Alan, Thank You, Theatre, Your Characters, A Memory, and a few others). Each letter gets its own page, styled to feel like its own little artefact rather than getting lost in a feed.

If you’ve got something to say, Leave a letter: letterstoalanrickman.co.uk

If you can spare anything, these two charities meant something to him and could use the support:

Saving Faces: https://www.savingfaces.co.uk/support-us/ways-to-donate/

Pancreatic Cancer UK: https://www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/donate/

And if you haven’t already, sign the petition that started all this:https://www.change.org/p/release-alan-rickman-s-archival-theatre-performances-for-public-viewing
