Covenant House Approach Is Ineffective
In 2024, Covenant House published its Fiscal Year 2024 Impact Report Fort Lauderdale, which contains data that summarizes how its program performed for that year. But - by its own admission - its approach doesn't yield much in the way of results.
Covenant House says its mission is to solve the problems of homelessness, and its Impact Report says that it reached 642 people. However:
- Only 51 (8%) of those people were moved to stable housing.
- Only 116 (18%) of those people gained or maintained employment.
And - despite assurances to the contrary at the Oct 1 neighborhood participation meeting - they accepted 108 drop-ins at their Fort Lauderdale location in 2024.
So, according their own impact report, the vast majority of people served by Covenant House leave the shelter without a home and without a job.
