The Issue

I am a Bolt driver, and like many others in our community, I strongly oppose the mandatory branding of our cars. The introduction of visible branding on e-hailing vehicles such as Bolt, Uber, or inDriver places us at an increased risk of being targeted by criminals and threatened by taxi industry hooligans.

Branding our vehicles makes us easy targets. The distinctive logos and decals that are being proposed mean that we would no longer be able to blend into traffic, instead becoming moving beacons that attract unwanted attention. The safety and security of drivers like myself and our passengers are at great risk.

Statistics show that each year, violence against e-hailing drivers is on the rise. According to reports, many drivers have already been victims of violent incidents and robberies while on duty. Mandatory branding will only exacerbate this dangerous situation by advertising our role to those who may wish to inflict harm.

In addition to these safety concerns, there's the financial burden that comes with vehicle branding. Many drivers are already struggling to make ends meet, and the additional cost of maintaining branded appearances on our cars is an unnecessary and unjust financial strain.

The solution is simple: allow drivers to opt out of mandatory branding. This will not only preserve our safety but also respect our rights as independent contractors to manage our vehicles as we choose. Drivers should have the freedom to operate without fear and without being forced to turn our vehicles into advertisements.

We understand the reasons behind vehicle branding might be aimed at increasing service visibility or trust. However, the safety and wellbeing of drivers and passengers must remain the priority.

Support us in saying no to mandatory branding on our e-hailing vehicles. Sign this petition to protect the rights, safety, and livelihoods of e-hailing drivers and help maintain the anonymity and security that is crucial to our work. Please sign and share this petition with your friends, family, and colleagues.
