Dear petition signees,
On the 7th of May, I met with the CEO of TISC, Andrew Crevald, and their Manager of Application Services, Georgina Ker, to present our petition. We discussed many of the petition's arguments, and TISC presented a new scaling system they are considering implementing, which addresses many of our concerns. The proposed system operates as follows: The TEA, which is used to calculate the ATAR, does not include bonuses for Specialist Maths, Methods, or LOTE. However, bonuses will be added after the ATAR is calculated, depending on the university course you wish to attend. For example, if you wish to pursue Computer Science at UWA, which requires a 75 ATAR and Methods or Application as a prerequisite, a bonus may be added to your ATAR if you studied Specialist Math, potentially affecting your eligibility for the course.
I'm not certain if this constitutes good news, but as far as I understand, this addresses the issues raised in the petition.
I would like to hear from any of you. Please contact me at lucas.leeper@outlook.com, and I will use your insights to determine how this petition will progress in the future.
Also, please note that if this change is to be implemented, it should not occur within 3 years after notice to ensure that subject selection will not be impacted.
Additionally, TISC is considering being more inclusive with its consultation process, which is absolutely good news.
Kind regards,
Lucas Lee
