A quick update for you all: There’s a lot of misinformation online about the newly proposed loitering law in Seattle. This law targets the violent pimps whose gun fights and turf wars have spilled over into neighborhoods from Aurora Ave. It also targets the men who prowl our neighborhoods at night, looking for girls and women who are being sex trafficked.

Supporting this legislation is vital to the safety of not only local neighborhoods, but the sex workers themselves – at least two of whom have been shot in recent months. The legislation is not a revival of the loitering law repealed in 2020. It has been rewritten to focus on helping the girls, teenagers and young women being trafficked, offering them diversions and ways to exit.

Email your city council members today. Tell them you support this new law to ensure the safety of everyone who lives – and works – along Aurora Ave. in North Seattle.
