The search for a suitable Warminster location is on.........

You may be wondering about the campaign, led by Deputy Mayor Cllr Liz Lee and David Reeves of Health and Wellbeing Warminster, to bring the mobile breast screening service for Avenue Surgery ladies back to the town in 2028. At an online meeting in June with the Wiltshire Breast Screening Service (BSS), it became apparent that, despite the strong support from both Councils and the local MP Dr. Andrew Murrison, the mobile unit will not return to its optimum site alongside Morrison’s in 2028. However, BSS did state their desire to return the unit to Warminster in 2028 provided a suitable site could be found.

We have identified a number of potential sites and these are currently being explored. Once this work is complete, we aim to present the BSS with several suitable sites and to gain their promise and agreement that the unit will return to the town in 2028. Meanwhile, the petition for the unit’s return (standing currently at just under 1,500 signatures) is still live and we continue to  urge those impacted (and their loved ones) to sign it to demonstrate the strength of feeling about this issue. The petition is online here or there is a paper petition in Waiting Room A in the Avenue Surgery so please tell others.

Finally, thank you for your continued support  which sustains us in our efforts to bring this vital service back to the town.
