Experience counts

After two decades of public service you gain a skillset and experience that’s hard to replicate.
When shortsighted and vindictive leaders get rid of experience through subversive techniques and attrition the agency and the public are done a great disservice.
Just like you won’t become a very good gang investigator with a simple class, you won’t develop your skills without years of experience. This can mean the difference between solving a crime or not, exonerating an innocent person or not, getting the job done… or not.
The other major benefits to experienced officers are the opportunity to pass this knowledge along and new officers aren’t reinventing the wheel over and over.
Recently there have been a lot of shootings, including drive by shootings as well as an uptick in violent crimes. Are you willing to bet your families life and safety on brand new officers with no experience who are forced to focus on tickets instead of police work?
Contact Mayor Ed Owens. Let him know you are tired of your agency losing experienced officers and demand we all be brought back.
