Thank you to everyone who signed for your help and support, unfortunately, we have been informed that bringing back the class is absolutely not an option. The email does not feel like they are taking accountability and the promises seem weak, but it is better than nothing and we will continue to press them to make sure those of us who were screwed over will be able to graduate on time.
This is the email that some of us received:
Good afternoon, all -
If you are bcc’d on this email, it’s because you were enrolled in either or both of Micr 122 and 122L. These classes were on the schedule by mistake (they are meant to be scheduled only in alternating years), and when we sent the cancellation request last week, no students had yet enrolled. Cancelling a class requires several approval steps, so it can take a few days to process.
When students are enrolled in a cancelled class, we always email all enrolled students ahead of the cancellation to let them know, but per the Registrar, you enrolled after we requested the cancellation but before the request was processed. Thus, a small number of students were enrolled in classes that were cancelled without notification. I’m sorry for that; it would have been difficult to avoid, but know it is not our usual practice.
Unfortunately, we cannot reinstate the courses for this year. I am currently looking over each of your class schedules and MyProgress to see if anyone needs any specific advising about Spring courses. If so, I will reach out directly.
Best,
