Reinstate Ed Mues as Recycling Center Manager

We the undersigned citizens and residents of Denning hereby request that our Town Council offer the position of Recycling Center Manager to Ed Mues, who was recently removed from this position, after 8 years of service to our Town.

Ed Mues excelled in his duties as Manager of the Recycling Center since 2003. He enforced Town waste disposal ordinances and kept outside garbage from costing us money by filling our dumpsters. He was an invaluable resource for household, gardening, environmental and civic information. Ed cared enough about our Town that he worked on his own time to improve the Recycling Center through better, more ecological and more profitable recycling of Denning’s refuse.

Beyond that, Ed improved all of our lives by creating a vital focal point for community interaction. In the few weeks since Ed’s departure, we already feel the loss.

Ed’s termination was detrimental to the well-being of our Town. A number of the undersigned were informed by our Town Supervisor that Ed Mues’ termination was “political,” and not based in any part on his job performance. The Town Board minutes do not include any explanation for terminating Ed’s employment. We know of no reason that would justify this action and hereby request that our Town Board immediately reinstate Ed Mues in his job.
