Every day, my son travels from Bandra to Jai Hind College in Churchgate, part of the daily grind of many college students and working professionals. Like many others, he relies on the Bandra to Churchgate local train for a safe and timely commute. Recently, however, the Bandra local service has been halted, leaving commuters with only overcrowded alternatives that are unsafe and uncomfortable.

In May 2025 alone, 210 people tragically lost their lives due to overcrowded trains in Mumbai. These figures are a stark reminder of the urgent need for effective public transportation solutions in one of India’s busiest cities. As a concerned parent, seeing my son commute in risky conditions every day is extremely worrying.

The suspension of the Bandra local has not only increased pressure on the existing train network but has also turned what should be a simple journey into a dangerous ordeal. 

We urge the Mumbai Central Divisional Railway Manager to reinstate the Bandra to Churchgate local trains immediately. This action would significantly reduce congestion, provide safer travel options, and restore confidence among commuters.
