We spoke and they listened!  It’s been an exciting week for the homeless pets of Atlanta! We know that the 2019 Fulton County Budget included funding to do a feasibility study for a new shelter. On Monday, County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts went a step further and announced plans to spend an estimated $25 million to build a new shelter to open by 2021. Details provided in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution article below. It’s AJC official!

First we want to give a BIG THANK YOU to our commissioners for listening to their constituents and acting quickly to resolve the issues. Fulton is a forward-looking county, and that is even more clear when you see commissioners responding with such dedication to the people they represent!

We also want to share our gratitude for having Alton Adams on the team! Alton is the new Deputy COO of Fulton County and has been spearheading the new shelter initiative. We are looking forward to the continued partnership between Alton and Fulton County residents.

Our mission is not complete. While this shows great progress, we are staying close to make sure the project doesn’t get derailed or pushed back.  We want to make sure the end result is a shelter that meets the needs of our county for years to come.

Want to be a sponsor? The County is beginning to gather inquiries for private sponsorship opportunities of the new facility. If your company is interested, please contact Ketsia Guerrier at the Fulton County Commissioners office: 404.612.4850.
