Make May 3rd First Responders Appreciation Day

Make May 3rd First Responders Appreciation Day

The Issue

May 3rd, 2016 is a day that residents of Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo wont soon forget. The massive wildfire that ripped through the region caused devastation and changed people's lives forever.

Through the entire event though, a few people ran towards the flames rather than away from them. As residents of Wood Buffalo, we have these people to thank for protecting all that is Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo.

This group is the starting of a push to make May 3rd First Responders Appreciation Day in Fort McMurray, in Alberta and hopefully across the county!. Once this group receives enough momentum, we will present it to Municipal Council as an annual day of recognition.

Agenda Item 1: Make this coming Canada Day all about those that did what they could to help.

Agenda Item 2: Make May 3rd a recognized annual date.
