Thanks to everyone who came and participated in 'The Track is Back' yesterday at Whitchurch Athletics Track.

Overall there were around 45-50 people who came from a variety of ages ranges and abilities.

A huge thanks to Acting Chief Inspector Richard Fear and officers from Broadbury Road Police Station who ran their socks off alongside members of the public and then in our concluding event, 'Cops and Robbers' where they were chased by a crowd of eager runners.

Special guest Vernon Samuels spoke about how athletics can have far reaching benefits for young people and how facilities like the track need to be fought for and not allowed to disappear. He spoke about the importance of activism and not giving up even when the opposition seems overwhelming.

Thanks to our coaches Eugene and Andrea who oversaw the sprints and throws section respectively and to local running club Concrete Therapy who covered the middle distance part of the event.

Thanks as well to Gary Eves from Community Paramedics who came in an ambulance to give us medical support (thankfully we didn't need to use him!)

ITV Westcountry News also came along and filmed the event. You can see their report here:

Overall the event was very successful and we hope to do other events in the future.
