Thank you for attending the demonstration outside Truslove House if you managed to make it. There was a great turnout and a positive sense. Although the council are continuing with their plans to demolish instead of refurbishing their estates, there is no way Lambeth Council will be Net Zero by 2030 following this policy.
Let the Council know how you feel by writing to the council at: complaints@lambeth.gov.uk; your councillor and MP (Helen Hayes, helen.hayes.mp@parliament.uk if you live in Lambeth or the Dulwich and West Norwood area).
Ask them if they support refurbishing over demolition, do they agree with the Architects' Journal's Retrofit First campaign, and to sign up to the Radical Housing Network's People's Housing Charter. https://www.radicalhousingnetwork.uk/home/sign-the-peoples-housing-charter?fbclid=IwAR3rgBjvxrorp0Q-ZgZ3dRIIgHV5ikBVo-raTE7el2xvF6dAtxLP9uBFdjY
This is the email to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities: correspondence@communities.gov.uk, to bring to light what the council are doing: demolishing and rebuilding in a time of environmental crisis with 60% at market value.
This affects everyone's future, from those who would like to buy, rent, or need social housing. No-one's needs are met by building for investment. This is shown in the table taken from the Financial Times, 2017, 'London Faces a Glut of New Luxury Homes.'
