Visits to the estate
Tomorrow, Thursday, 8th April, two Green Party candidates, Claire Sheppard and Zack Polanski, are coming to visit Central Hill Estate in the afternoon, so if you do see them around, do say hi, and let them know any concerns that you have.
The same on Friday,9th April, 2 - 4, we have two Lib Dems, a Greater London Assembly member, Caroline Pidgeon, and the candidate for Southwark and Lambeth, Florence Cyrot. If you would like to speak to them, we shall be doing tours of the estate and generally staying around the basketball area. They are keen to talk to residents. Call: 07504497725, or just come down if you'd like to talk to them.
Historic England
Central Hill is a model estate with its walkways, the way it hugs the hillside, and is under the tree-line. This needs to be preserved for current and future generations. It was built during a time of cold war and holds historic value.
We also have to apply to Historic England for listing. I'm sure many of you have filled this in, but if you haven't, here's a questionnaire to support the application. Please fill in and share.
Thank you. Take care of yourselves. As you may, see the building and trees are still standing but we do need to keep up the pressure that demolition is not good for the community or the environment, and does not solve housing issues and the homes built across the estate are 61% for private sale. If you would like to complain, write to your MP or complaints@lambeth.gov.uk. You do not need to live in Lambeth to complain, I believe.
