No New Charges (Part Two):
Earlier this month the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) finalised and upheld its ruling not to bring any new charges against Lucy.
Despite receiving bizarre criticism from Cheshire Police at the end of their original investigation, independent prosecutors concluded once again that there were no basis for further litigation in the six cases they reviewed.
Whilst action against the NHS Trust via the Civil Court remains on the table, this is the end of the matter in terms of any possible criminal proceedings and ensures that Lucy will not be dragged through the Crown Court process.

Thirlwall Inquiry:
After three delays, the Thirlwall Inquiry will finally publish its report on Tuesday 15 September 2026.
For several months now there has been persistent and poorly informed online speculation that the delays concealed something more dramatic and the report would never see the light of day. As I noted in the May 2026 newsletter, that is completely implausible and the delays are probably down to nothing more than the fact that public inquiries in this country are very often painfully slow, with pushbacks being a regular feature of them.
The estimated cost of the inquiry ranges from £18 million to £39 million, depending on what you factor in. A huge number of witnesses gave evidence including NHS leaders, multiple current and former staff from the Countess of Chester Hospital, and Sir Jeremy Hunt MP. Claiming that the entire process was somehow staged, with no intention of ever presenting conclusions is simply delusional.
Rather than indulging in baseless denial of the inevitable, we should instead be thinking more practically and be prepared to carefully read the report in full to extract whatever useful material it contains. The inquiry has already (unintentionally) supplied plenty that strengthens the argument of Lucy’s innocence. There may well be a few more hidden gems still to be found.

Petition:
This time last month we were 80 signatures short of 24,000 and almost grinding to a complete halt. But after appealing for help to get things moving again, so many of you got involved and together we got it past the 25,000 milestone. Fantastic, but it didn’t end there…..
The morning we hit 25,000, the iconic fashion designer, Jeff Banks, very kindly shared it on his Facebook and Instagram pages. The numbers were given another turbo charge in the week or so that followed and we now sit at 26,540.
We are very grateful to Jeff and everyone else who has contributed in various ways to this latest little surge in numbers. It has been a team effort to be proud of as we continue to tee the petition up for its viral moment. Believe me, it will happen!

Following the recent announcement of the untimely death of Dr A, I have made the difficult decision to delay the release of my third song in support of Lucy, which was meant to be published on YouTube yesterday.
Although Wounded Warrior was written two years ago, recorded one year ago and the video story images were designed many months ago, the lyrics and video may (wrongly) be perceived as a direct ridicule of what has just happened and that is not what the YB Group is about.
As per our constitution, we never publicly call out any individual who has previously wronged Lucy. And although releasing the song yesterday wouldn’t have crossed that line, we still want to be extra sensitive towards Dr A’s family, who are undoubtedly going through incredible grief.
The very slim possibility of them stumbling across it right now is not something I feel comfortable with, so it will instead be released in October. Apologies to those of you who were looking forward to seeing and hearing it, but I’m sure you can appreciate that it is the sensible thing to do at this very moment in time.
And so, there we have it. Some good, bad and indifferent news this month, but still very much going in the direction of travel and that is the main thing.
