Reduce the cost of ISL football kits
The Issue
Last year, I was thrilled to be part of the ISL football team, enjoying the spirit of the sport without any additional financial burden. Our kits were provided free of charge, allowing every student to focus purely on the game. Imagine my disappointment when this year, I was told we would have to pay 88 CHF for our football kits. This sharp increase is not just unfair, it's unsustainable.
The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is known for promoting inclusivity and passion for sports among its students. However, this sudden shift from free kits to a pricey 88 CHF per student per session can exclude those who might not be able to afford this additional expense on top of tuition fees, book costs, and other educational expenses.
Why should we have to bear this financial burden? The cost of kits should not prevent any student from participating in something they love and are passionate about. It's crucial to maintain accessibility to school activities for all students.
To add some context, when the kits were free, the school encouraged broader participation in sports. Parents appreciated that they didn't have added costs to worry about, which aligns with the school's values of fostering an inclusive and supportive community. By reinstating free kits or significantly reducing the currently imposed fee, the school would demonstrate its commitment to these values.
We call upon ISL to reconsider the charges on football kits for its students. Perhaps setting up a sponsorship deal with a local sports brand could offset kit production costs, or implementing a kit recycling program could cut down on waste and costs.
Join us in urging ISL to find a sustainable solution that keeps football accessible for everyone. Please sign this petition to support a reduction or removal of the kit fee, allowing every student the right to participate in school activities without financial hurdles.
