So 3 weeks ago, Alma got hit by a car and it’s been an emotional rollercoaster.  The vets have said that the injuries where serious, a severe hock fracture (backwards knee joint) multiple fragments of bone in the joint and a serious open leg wound.  Most horses would have been destroyed at the road side but Alma has amazed all with her resilience and determination to live. She is a very special girl.  I am praying she continues to fight.  We now have to wait another 12 weeks of her staying in her stable, not being able to come out and then hopefully once we talk it through with the surgeons, have an operation to remove the bone fragments from her hock.  She will never be the same as she was but as long as she is comfortable that’s all I can ask for. 

We have a petition to reduce the speed limit along Norton Road Baldock where the incident occurred. If the speed was reduced then people have more chance of stopping if there’s a hazard ahead. There’s been to many near misses on this road people use it for the football club hikers dog walkers and equestrians. Let’s make it safe for all.
