Hey everyone,
Thank you so much for signing this petition! We are making lots of noise about this petition, but we need to push harder to get the CEO of Democracy Prep, Tameka Royal, to listen to us.
We are launching a Mass Email Day this coming Tuesday, September 8, at 7:00 AM.
If 100+ students and supporters all hit "Send" or schedule a send at the exact same time right before the school day starts, the network office will have a digital traffic jam. They will be forced to look at our petition.
Please copy the message below on Tuesday morning, fill in your info, and send it to dpps_info@democracyprep.org AND to troyal@democracyprep.org
Subject: Urgent: DP Scholar Requesting Action on School Schedule
Dear CEO Tameka Royal and Democracy Prep Leadership,
As a scholar at Democracy Prep, I am writing to express my deep concern over the new 7:40 AM to 3:35 PM schedule. The 60-minute classes combined with a shortened 30-minute lunch are causing extreme burnout and preventing students from having enough time to sit down and eat safely.
We have launched a student-led petition with hundreds of signatures demanding class times be adjusted to 50 minutes to allow for a healthy lunch break. Please listen to your scholars and restore joy to our school day. https://www.change.org/reduceclasstimeextendlunch
Sincerely,

Subject: Parent Concern: Democracy Prep High School Schedule and Student Health
Dear CEO Tameka Royal and Democracy Prep Leadership,
As a parent of a scholar at Democracy Prep, I am deeply concerned about the new extended school hours and the 30-minute lunch restriction. My child is coming home exhausted and starved because 30 minutes does not allow enough time to wait in line and eat a full meal.
I fully support the student-led petition to adjust class times to 50 minutes and extend the lunch period. I urge the executive team to meet with student leaders to resolve this health and wellness issue immediately. https://www.change.org/reduceclasstimeextendlunch
Sincerely,
