The Homes Victoria website has been secretively amended to remove the original website content that assured the public that the Consultation Report on Barak Beacon would be made publicly available. The image above shows what was represented & promised in March 2024. The exact same page now has the highlighted information missing. See here: https://www.homes.vic.gov.au/barak-beacon-port-melbourne

We are being entirely disregarded despite our capacity as a community to add genuine value to the consideration of this very significant development.

We have since discovered that the Panning Application was made to the Minister for Planning on Friday 24th of May with little to no public disclosure.

Transparent? Honest? Genuine? NO. Rushed? Covered up? YES.

The Minister for Planning - Sonya Kilkenny now has 60 days to make a decision on the matter.

Please email Minister Kilkenny at sonya.kilkenny@parliament.vic.gov.au and ask:

  1. That the community consultation period be extended in light of the entirely inadequate process run to date. In the absence of a community consultation being reinstated....
  2. That the huge density of the Barak Beacon development be down-scaled in light of the very serious risks that the current plans pose to pedestrian safety,  tenant welfare, environment & livabiliy of the surrounding area
  3. That the development be reduce from 408 to no more than 250 dwellings & to increase the % of the development dedicated to public housing.
