What does this mean for YOUR Port Melbourne?

Thanks to everyone who has signed so far, you are making a difference!!

We are proud PHIMBYs!!

Just a reminder that this petition is NOT about reducing social housing. We are all PHIMBYs here in Port Melbourne (Public Housing In My Back Yard). Many of us even live in houses that were previously Public Housing. This fight is all about avoiding gross over-development that can ruin a suburb for both the tenants & the neighbours over the long term.

We will continue to seek an audience with local MP Nina Taylor but she remains Missing Inaction.

  • If you drive on Port Melbourne roads....
  • If your kids use Port Melbourne sporting grounds...
  • If you use Port Melbourne health services...
  • If you like to park along Port Melbourne beaches...
  • If your kids go to Port Melbourne Primary or Secondary schools...
  • If you think social housing should be given priority & be good quality....

Then this development matters.

  • The Victorian Labor Government will profit from allocating 68% of the development to market or market affordable housing, leaving only 32% for social housing
  • The Victorian Labor government originally proposed a max of 5 storeys. This has grown to 11 storeys!
  • The new dwellings are expected to house over 1000 residents where there were previously less than 200.
  • Green space is critically under-provided for & 93% of all trees will be destroyed.

There are many public housing developments planned for Victoria. This could happen to someone you know and care about many suburbs away. Don't limit this to Port Melbourne, spread the word.

Send a message to the Planning Minister Sonya Kilkenny while we still have time!
