Namaste,

First, a big dhanyavaad to all of you who signed this petition and supported APPWW.

The City of Redmond passed Res 1534 Option A, 4-3, with an amendment to not mention any individual or organization but to condemn hate and islamophobia in general in the City of Redmond. All mentions targeting APPWW by name were removed.

As a young organization they have set out to bring attention to the oppressed and persecuted from around the world who live among us. The unprecedented extent of the attacks on them goes to show the discomfort this is causing to many vested interests.

Pointing to tweets of ex-board members made in personal capacity and focusing on connections that were inaccurately cooked up was simply an excuse.

We congratulate the Mayor and the Redmond City Council members for not allowing this divisive rhetoric and infringement of freedom of speech to sabotage the city. They spent countless hours on deliberating on this while they have so many other pressing issues to resolve, including a budget that needs to be passed.

Let’s all rally around APPWW and continue to support them and their work.

Best,
All of us who Stand With APPWW
