Increase Security and Reduce Crime in Redbridge
The Issue
Increase Security and Reduce Crime in Redbridge
In Woodford Green (IG8) alone, there have been over 146 crimes reported in November 2017. Most of these crimes occurred on or near Manor Road, Glastonbury Avenue, Woodford Avenue, Gants Hill and around Shops and Supermarkets.
Crimes such as anti-social behaviour, bicycle theft, criminal damage and arson, shoplifting and violence and sexual offenses only make up a small percentage of the crimes committed in this area. Over 30% of crimes are related to vehicle crimes and burglary.
The neighbourhood watch is always willing to help using social media which has become a major platform to share information and keep the community up-to-date with the latest scams and criminal attempts – but this does not solve the issue. Sharing CCTV footage and pictures of criminals only goes so far – we need the physical presence of the law to show these criminals that our neighbourhood is not one to mess with.
I’m starting this petition and urge you to join me in asking the Redbridge Council to increase the security of our neighbourhood by assigning more officers to patrol our streets and to use its financial resources more wisely and invest in new security measures such as CCTV, street lighting, and safety signs.
Criminals do not work in areas that are well protected! They operate in places that lack protection and look for ‘blind spots’ where no evidence of their criminal activities can be recorded. They often work during the night!
If everyone who has been a victim of a crime in Redbridge signs this petition - that would be enough supporters to get the attention of those who have the power to do something about it. If, however, others join in and support this petition - we could ensure this problem is heard and solved.
