We call on Parliament to consider the possible restoration of the death penalty for the most serious offences, including aggravated murder, rape and other serious crimes, through lawful and constitutionally permissible procedures.

We invite South Africans to participate, share their views and support a transparent public process. Any proposed amendment must comply with the Constitution, including the requirements of Section 74, and be subject to parliamentary and judicial scrutiny where applicable.
