Thanks to the 4BWD councillors especially Mustafa Desai and Cllr Terri Mahmood for raising the objections and enforcing a "call in" to the approved plans and decision of executive board.
The lack of public consultation was ultimately the reason it was halted. "Lack of" is an understatement - none existent - should be the term used by the council.
On the 8th January - the Executive board was asked to consider the following by Cllr Terri Mahmood "I hope we can explore more suitable sites and arrangements that better serve our communities. Let’s use this pause not just to consult, but to listen and to build something better together.
Waste services are not optional extras. They are essential to keeping our town clean and preventing the fly‑tipping residents have repeatedly raised. Public engagement cannot be ignored, and the lack of it in the officers’ report was a key driver of outrage.
So I ask the Board: can you assure us this consultation will be more than a tick‑box exercise? "
Thank you again to all the Blackburn independent (4BWD) councillors.
