Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for signing and supporting the petition to protect the Plant Biology degree at the University of Nottingham. Your support has already made a huge impact, but we now urgently need your help one more time.

The University has said that the Change.org petition may not be considered in the formal review process because it is not GDPR-compliant. However, an official alternative has now been created.

Dr Lauren Baker, from the University of Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum, has drafted an Open Letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham. It highlights why closing Plant Biology (and related degrees) would be devastating for the UK’s future in sustainability, food security, crop science, and biodiversity.

This open letter is already being signed by researchers, academics, industry figures, and professionals across the country, and your voice is needed too.

Please take 20 seconds to sign the official, GDPR-compliant Microsoft Form:

https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=G96VzPWXk0-0uv5ouFLPkclGJt6D6eFEqXrlWw3TweVUN0wyVDZHU1M0TTgwR0RaMkdJRkZCNlAwWi4u&route=shorturlC

This version will be counted, and signatures will be presented directly to the University Council before they vote on 25 November.

What you can do:

Sign the Microsoft Form (most important!)
Share the form with your networks, friends, colleagues, and on social media.
Encourage anyone who signed the Change.org petition to sign the official version, too.

On behalf of all Plant Biology students:

Thank you for standing with us. We would not have made it this far without you.

With gratitude,

Niamh, Plant Biology Student, University of Nottingham
