Hi everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to share some developments following our collective efforts. Firstly, our petition has garnered an incredible 203 signatures— a huge thank you to each one of you for your support! It's heartening to see our community come together for a cause that matters to us.
I recently had a meeting with our principal to discuss the concerns raised in the petition, and I'm pleased to share that progress is being made. One key outcome from the meeting is the assurance that deserving students with awards get acknowledged. She said "The goal is to amplify the celebration, not take it away". Getting medals is still up in the air, which is why we need to continue this pressure.
The admin also said that because we haven't officially graduated, we can't receive official diplomas yet at the ceremony. Similar to what we did during COVID, we would pick up the diplomas and medals after exams, which I know a lot of people aren't happy about.
I suggested holding a seminar/assembly to clear up some misconceptions and allow the Grade 12's to ask questions. They said they would try their best to plan it soon.
To keep the momentum going, I kindly ask for your continued support. If you haven't already, please consider sharing the petition with more people in your network. Whether it's through social media platforms like Instagram, group chats, Snapchat, email, or WhatsApp – every share counts. There truly is strength in numbers.
Let's make our voices heard and ensure that the Class of 2024 has a graduation ceremony that reflects our hard work and achievements. Your support is invaluable, and together, we can make a difference!
Thank you all once again for standing with us.
