The Issue

We, the global rally community, fans, drivers, and motorsport enthusiasts from all corners of the world, express our deep disappointment and shock regarding the sudden exclusion of the Vodafone Rally de Portugal from the 2027 FIA World Rally Championship calendar.
Rally de Portugal is not just another event; it is a founding cornerstone of the WRC since its inaugural 1973 season. Widely regarded and voted multiple times as the "Best Rally in the World," it offers everything that defines the true spirit of rallying: demanding gravel stages, iconic locations like Fafe, flawless organization by the ACP, and, above all, the most passionate, respectful, and massive crowd of spectators in motorsport history.
An agreement was previously announced to secure the event until 2028. The last-minute decision to drop Portugal in 2027 under the premise of "geographical diversification" deprives the championship of one of its most legendary, competitive, and fan-backed classic events. The WRC needs intercontinental growth, but it should never come at the cost of destroying its own heritage and historical pillars.
A WRC calendar without Portugal lacks soul.
Therefore, we urge the WRC Promoter and the FIA to:
Re-evaluate the 2027 calendar constraints and find a viable solution to reinstate Rally de Portugal for the 2027 season and unconditional guarantee for the event’s return in 2028, ensuring its long-term future in the pinnacle of rallying.

Let the fans be heard. Bring back the best rally in the world.
