The Violence Against Women Act is on the ballot in 2020. I refuse to wait around for a Republican majority Senate to pass H.R. 1585. (VAWA reauthorization). If we know anything about Mitch McConnell and his cronies, the one thing they are good at is gridlock -- not progress.

We have so many Democrats running for president it's hard to keep count sometimes. All of them claim to be outspoken supporters for the women's movement.

The Violence Against Women Act is on the ballot in 2020. All of the Democratic candidates for president have a responsibility to speak out on this issue.

I challenge every candidate to use their platform on the debate stage this November to discuss how they would make sure the VAWA would be reauthorized under their leadership. As voters, we are owed this clarity and the the legislation is owed the urgency and attention it deserves. #vawachallenge

Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders, Julian Castro, Joe Biden and Amy Klobuchar are the only candidates who mention the Violence Against Women Act on the policy pages of their websites.

Out of that group, just Joe Biden and Amy Klobuchar have chosen to speak up about the fact that The Violence Against Women Act remains unfunded in the Democratic debates that have been held so far.

I applaud the former group for having a plan to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act if they becoem the nominee. However, after working on a campaign myself and the simple experience of being a voter, I know that few outside of the hardcore politics nerds read the policy section.
