The hit television show Younger, starring Hillary Duff, Sutton Foster and Peter Hermann, has released a new PSA demanding action be taken for the Violence Against Women Act.

In a statement to Glamour Magazine, Hermann said, "The issues that VAWA addresses—domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking—affect every community in America regardless of race, ethnicity, economic status, or gender identity. To withhold support, or to politicize what is really an issue of human rights, is reprehensible and primitive. We cannot urge you strongly enough to make your voices heard with ours."

The PSA emphasizes the growing threat of gender based violence in this country, and urges lawmakers to take action. Various cast members appear in the PSA to note the essential protections promised to victims in the legislation.

Younger partnered with the United State of Women to deliver this PSA. The United State of Women is a national organization that promotes women's equality. Join their movement to continue the fight for women's justice and equality.

And if you're still furious like me and the cast of Younger that the VAWA hasn't been reauthorized yet, do these 3 things today:

1. Call your representative.

2. Donate or lend a hand at your local women's shelter. With the VAWA stalled, they need all the support they can get.

3. Write a letter, reach out to your local newspaper, or make your own PSA! Tell your story. The more people understand why this bill matters, the better chance there is of passing it.
