On this International Day For the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the UN is going a step further by launching 16 Days of Activism -- starting November 25th and ending December 10th, with a goal of amplifying the voices of survivors and activists to give sexual violence and abuse the national attention it deserves. These stories need to be told, heard, appreciated, and addressed. Will you contribute your story to the national conversation?

Here's how to do it:

1. Use the hashtag #hearmetoo or #orangetheworld (or both) to be part of the Unite To End Violence Against Women Campaign

2. Tell your survivor story, and/or why this issue is so important to you.

Every 98 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted.

Only 6 out of every 1,000 perpetrators will end up in prison.

1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape.

1 in 33 American men have experienced an attempted or completed rape.

9 out of every 10 victims are female.

The strongest way to fight the systemic problem that is sexual violence, abuse and assault is for survivors to tell their stories. Campaigns like 16 Days of Activism shine the light on how critical legislation like the Violence Against Women Act is, as well as the crucial steps that need to be taken toward improving it so that survivors can eventually receive the equal rights under the law that they deserve. So, will you contribute your story to the national conversation during this 16 days of Activism?
