Jun 3, 2026

Council member Janeese Lewis-George is actively championing an inequitable upzoning plan for targeted sections of our community, even though the Office of Planning proposed these sweeping map changes (Change Area 4.3) without conducting a prior Racial Equity Impact Assessment (REIA) and while skipping a mandatory Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). This speculative development map proposal threatens to cause irreversible  damage to the Rock Creek watershed and displace fixed-income homeowners, renters, and vulnerable residents.  A new independent initiative has been launched to demand that she immediately intervene with the Office of Planning to freeze these map changes, until a comprehensive Small Area Plan is funded and executed; please take 30 seconds to protect the community by reading and signing the new petition here.
