I wanted to share an important update regarding my case. Unfortunately, NHS England recently held a review meeting and has decided not to approve funding for Gamma Knife treatment under the NHS in my situation.
Prior to receiving this decision, I had already opted to pursue private treatment due to the significant delays I had been experiencing. However, this outcome has only deepened my sense of frustration and reinforced feelings of being treated unfairly within the NHS system.
I have asked for more detailed reasoning behind the decision but have only been told that a formal report will be provided “in due course” - an unfortunately vague timeframe.
In the meantime, I’ve obtained a second opinion from a consultant who has reviewed my scans and confirmed that Gamma Knife would be a suitable treatment option for me. Given this, I find the NHS decision even more difficult to understand.
Despite multiple phone calls and emails, NHS England and the department of health and social care have failed to provide me with a response to the concerns raised in the petition.
I would like to thank every person who has supported the petition which is aiming to raise awareness and address the failures within the current system, not just for me but for others who may face similar barriers.
