Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared so far. We have reached nearly 600 signatures and the numbers continue to grow! We are continuing to demonstrate that climbing is not just a sport, but a community that supports the physical and mental well-being of our patrons.
Now, we need to take this message to those who can make change. If you are able and interested, please raise your voices through social media and email. The rationale behind this closure does not make sense. We suggest the following questions, but please feel free to add your own!
- Why was this messaging not delivered earlier? Why were students not given an opportunity to voice their opinions?
- If it is due to renovations, how were we able to run seamlessly in prior semester?
- If A&R funded activities are being prioritized, why has the schedule not changed since last semester? Why has no new/increased programming been scheduled during the prior earmarked climbing hours?
- What do the policies mean? How do they support the rationale? The policies listed to support the rationale are:
- a) Archaic. AD1-17 was last updated in 1980. It describes procedures that do not align with current policies in any way.
- b) Irrelevant. At no point in either of AD 1-17 or GP36 does it discuss allotment of activities prioritized by A&R fees
We are targeting the following audiences - comment on their posts, tag them, and send them emails! An email template is included here, but feel free to personalize and ask your own questions!
