The public has been informally barred from the tracks due to turf field starting in 2020, in which the principles were in clear policy breach. However, the school board made the lockout official by ratifying the policy yesterday, contrary to the past encouragement of use. Other boards as late as 2017 valued open off hour access, unlike some of these members prioritizing turf over taxpayers. We paid for their vanity project and should have access, the tracks are community assets paid for by us and were open for 60+ years.
The sliver lining is it's only a temporary set back; if a policy can be changed, it can be reverted. Join our efforts for off-hour access restoration: Follow on YouTube. @ReopenLeonCountyTracks
