Upcoming Hikes in Umstead State Park

December 4: 1-3pm and First Day Hike on January 1: 1-3pm

We’re offering two dates for a hike along the border of Umstead State Park and the Odd Fellows Tract — the proposed site of RDU Quarry. This slow-paced hike will be led by Dr. Jean Spooner, Chair of the Umstead Coalition. Join this hike to learn about the history of the Odd Fellows Tract, the current status of the Stop RDU Quarry fight and to see a stunning section of Umstead State Park.

We'll hike by Foxcroft Lake to Crabtree Creek and beautiful rock outcrops in Umstead State Park. The hike is about 2 miles, but we'll stop frequently for discussions. Hiking boots are recommended since we'll be off trail and in the forest. Hiking poles may also be useful. This is an out and back hike and will stay on State Park property. The hike goes rain or shine. Location: 2232 Old Reedy Creek Road, Cary, NC (Park along the road shoulder). We hope you can join us! Register at: https://umsteadcoalition.org

Thank you again for supporting William B. Umstead State Park!
