Protect Umstead State Park Rally
Members of the community are invited to attend this rally and public meeting to #stoprduquarry! Come and show your support for those elected officials who are standing up against the Wake Stone/RDU Quarry plan. This is a great opportunity to both support our local leaders, and have some great dialogue and networking around how we can collectively protect our park and stop the quarry. Event details are posted on both the Umstead Coalition site and as a Facebook event.
Movie Premiere of 400 Feet Down
Sierra Club is hosting the movie premiere of "400 Feet Down" at 6:00 PM in the (indoor) theater at JC Raulston Arboretum. Be sure to reserve your ticket on Eventbrite before it sells out!
Documentary filmmaker Charlie Morris tells the story of what's at stake with the planned quarry next to Umstead State Park through interviews with many experts, awesome nature footage, and some original tunes from a local artist. Plenty of time for discussion and networking afterwards - hope to see you there!
