Save Jennifer Street

There are currently several development proposals before Randwick Council to clear Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub (ESBS) from Jennifer Street, Little Bay, which must not go ahead.

Only 127 HA of this habitat remains, and it is listed as critically endangered. This habitat is protected by the Threatened Species Conservation Act and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act. According to the Office of Environment and Heritage, 'less than 3% of the original distribution of this community remains in a number of isolated remnants' including the site in Jennifer street. The major threat to this habitat is the 'further loss and fragmentation of habitat as a consequence of clearing and development.'

Any proposals to clear ESBS should to be rejected.

In signing this petition you are asking the council to reject any development proposals for this site, including DA-505/2017, DA-66/2018, DA-101/2018.

Now is also the time for the neighbouring Kamay Botany Bay National Park to be extended. It should include the whole of this continuous run of Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub, to prevent further fragmentation. In signing this petition you are calling for the NSW State Government to ensure that this site, and the ESBS it contains, are protected from development.
