A Father's Hope

My mother just shared with me a letter that my father wrote to our lawyer. My father has always been the strong silent type so it really surprised me. Since you signed the petition advocating my release, I wanted to share these words with you so you know the hope your support is giving.
"Season's Greetings John, Wanted to drop you a line just to let you know we really appreciate all your efforts with regards to freeing our son William III. Pat and I miss him so very much and Christmas Eve seems to be extra hard and weighs heavily... This marks the tenth year without having him home. Christmas Eve seems to be extra hard for us as that was always our family’s big celebration; we, of course, celebrated Christmas Day as well… but there was always something extra special about Christmas Eve for us. It was just… magical.
His absence is all the more obvious when we try and engage in the “usual” traditions without him. It’s just not the same and, quite frankly, it pains us and the years have added to our pain.
We watch the old videos of him opening presents, our family tradition was to open a gift Christmas Eve, and for a few minutes we feel warm but the reality is cruel.
We would give anything to have him home to see and hear his laughter again. We truly hope and pray God guides, gives you the strength and wisdom to bring him home soon. "
Merry Christmas to you and yours,
Bill & Pat Brewer
