The civil servants from the Department of Education have met with Diabetes UK and have stated that they are willing to work with them and the wider Health Conditions in Schools Alliance to make schools more aware of their obligations to children with long-term conditions like diabetes, coeliac or migraine. But they have not agreed to commit to the main requests in the petition - to make sure Ofsted inspect that policies are in place and being followed and that Edward Timpson writes to every school to let them know there should be a policy in place. The alliance has their next meeting on 12th September to discuss next steps but gaining signatures and awareness of this petition will play a huge part in making sure Edward Timpson and Ofsted agree to our requests!
